''I amuse myself by studying people as I travel . . . it is fun to study the world while passing through it.''
Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798), in conversation with Voltaire.
Casanova was in the audience at the Estates Theatre, Prague, for the premiere of Don Giovanni on 29th October 1787. He knew both Mozart and Da Ponte, and his surviving papers suggest that he even revised the libretto of the opera; certainly there are strong similarities between Mozart's seducer and Casanova himself. Our tour of Prague takes you backstage at the Estates Theatre to see literally behind the scenes.
Your private guide will show you everything that has to be seen in the Baroque Old Town - the Astronomical Clock, the Powder Tower, Wenceslas Square and of course Old Town Square itself. And there is more! We take you inside the Strahov Monastery (normally closed to the public), to the Loretto, the Little Quarter, across the Charles Bridge. Prague is a feast for the senses.
Memories of the hapsburg dynasty are everywhere in Budapest - the Royal Palace, Mathias Church, and the maze of cobbled streets around Castle Hill. Our tour of Budapest also takes you to the Danube River Bend, to see the town of Szentendre and the village of Estergom. |
